Sirius Pro Tuner

I think the future of sat radio will be over the internet, like internet radio. But that prob won't be for several years - not long enough to change immediate plans.

BUT - you can get Sirius and/or XM (might only be one of those currently) over the internet, as a second account, for real cheap.

A member at remotecentral said that some Integra/Onkyo AVRs will get 'sat radio' over the internet. Confirmed by another member, the Onkyo TX NR-807.

I think we'll see a lot more devices that use the Sirius/XM internet feed over the next year, if you want to avoid the higher monthly fees, and the antenna.

Squeezebox can be controlled with TCP/IP, but not 232. Uses internet feed.

Autonomic Controls say they provide XM from the internet - software, for use on a PC or running as an app on Crestron/AMX/RTI/(not sure of HAI).

Do you have a DA system you want to feed with the Sirius?

Found some info on Sirius Pro tuners at remotecentral, FWIW.

Double post FTL!

As of now, I dont have a dedicated DA system. I am currently using the line-level Zone 2 outputs of my Pioneer AVR into a 6-zone speaker selector. I have thought quite a few times that it would be nice to have XM in the house as well, but I dont care for the majority of the XM Home tuners. They really only offer the multi-location devices, or the dedicated Home Tuner (which has to be controlled through the AVR). That said, when I came across this product I thought it would be worth looking into.

I wont say that it will never happen, but I dont see sat radio for the home going exclusively to internet - simply because XM/Sirus wants you to buy their hardware too. Not to mention subscriptions for them (hardware) are substantially more expensive than the internet accounts.

I almost forgot. You can buy the discontinued Polk XM tuner on eBay for <$100. It has an RS232 interface and a video output, if I remember correctly.
