Skype camera for HTPC

Like many of us, my HTPC is in a closet about 40 feet from my TV. I tried a USB camera for skyping (mounted close to the tv, far from the computer), but it did not work because I exceeded the max length for a USB cable (10m). What other camera types does Skype support that are pretty decent? It apparently does not support network cameras, which is too bad because I already have a network camera in my family room. Are there any other types of cameras?

You could use a USB extension cable with an active amplifier. Someone in the chat room ordered one from monoprice.com, and doesn't have any problems with his camera.

Good suggestion, but my cable run is in my crawl space, so there is no place to plug in the amplifier.
