Smart meter (electric) by Sensus

The local power utility installed these meters in our neighborhood just recently and was wondering if there is any way to grab the data being 'beamed' up to wherever . Previously, I've used cameras
to track people coming up to the house, thus being able to catch the meter reader on the day and time the meter was read.

The meter is a FlexNet, model 530x (Type iSA2) by Sensus and/or iCon.

THanks

one approach i've always wanted to try for something like this is have a camera mounted in front of the meter and take snapshots at intervals and use OCR software on the image to read the data. training the ocr software would be easy since it only has 10 characters to recognize, 0-9. i briefly played around w/ tesseract ocr but didn't get very far http://goo.gl/XfVT1

Appreciate the responses !

The camera route was considered but not knowing when (time-wise) the the data was
being sent would be problematic. My only choice would be to hook up a night-light beside
the meter to provide illumination for the camera.

As to the other suggestion, I've e-mailed the company to see if their product would be
compatible with the meter. It appears that it isn't in as much as my meter supposedly
uses the following frequency ranges (940.1000 / 940.1500 forward channel and
901.1000 / 901.1500 reverse channel) and the listed product appears to use a
different range.

Not going to give up yet.
