It looks like Smarthome is in the process of discontinuing the 2412S Serial PLM. A search for 2412S now takes you to their Discontinued Products page and the suggested replacement is the new Dual Mesh 2413S Serial PLM.

Few points. It does not provide unfiltered 12 volts on the interface jack. So ISY99i users will now have to get an external power supply wart to power it and it has half the Link Database Size. 2016 for the 2412S and 1023 for the 2413S.

There was an active link in the 2412U page to the 2412S module and it still showed in stock. I decided to cover my butt and ordered a spare while it was still available.

Looks like most of their products are going dual mesh to improve reliability.

Wasnt there a problem with the first PLM's locking up if the link database was not large enough? Is this another rinse and repeat where in 6 months to year they will increase the link database size and people will have to buy a new one since it will be an improvement not a fix? If so SH has not changed their ways.

Yes the original PLM was 417 Links. The present ones where 2016 Links and the new Dual Mesh are listed as 1023 Links.

I did see one post in the UDI forums that their ISY99i was slower in doing linking and scenes when using a 2413S Dual Mesh PLM over the older 2412S PLM only module. Maybe because the module has to do both RF messages to other devices along with the power line messages.

In my setup [all setups are unique]. I found one Access Point for RF reception with a passive phase coupler. Was better than two Access Points and no passive coupler. When I changed my I1 ApplianceLincs to new revision I2 ApplianceLincs.

The 2413S photos are in the FCC Database of Accepted Devices. The module looks much cheaper. As the transformer run power supply of the 2412S is now what looks like a power line derived switching supply.

Update
The 2412S PLM is no longer on the Discontinued Products Page.
A simple search for 2412S on the main page still does not find it, but the Comprehensive Search does find it. Along with the links on the other model PLMs.
Guess Smarthome or Smartlabs reevaluated the 2412S status.
