Smoke relay EOL question

I bought a BRK RM-4 smoke alarm relay that opens when the interconnected alarms go off. Do I wire this as a 2-wire smoke using the 800-some ohm resistor, or do I wire it with a 2200ohm resistor?

Does the M1 treat it differently with a zone that has an 800 ohm resistor in it?

I haven't seen your specific device, but it looks like you have a dry contact form c relay to connect traditional interconnected smoke detectors to your M1 panel. It just bridges contacts when the smoke detectors are in alarm. You may want to use a volt meter to be absolutely sure the contacts are "dry"--no AC showing up.

You should be able to use either the N.O. or N.C. set of contacts on the relay, and they can connect to any zone on the M1. You are not restricted to zone 16, and if you use zone 16, keep the jumper as "normal". Configure your zone as EOL supervised and put the 2200 ohm EOL resistor in series for N.C. or parallel for N.O. Then define the zone as 10 -- 24 hour fire alarm.
 
So do 2-wire smokes operate differently than a form C relay? Why the difference between the 820ohm and the 2200ohm resistor?
 
For future reference, I wired a 2200ohm resistor inline with the NC contact, and this only gave me a fire trouble alert, not an actual alarm. Brad from Elk recommended bridging the N.O. and the COM contact with the 2200ohm resistor. Now on an alarm, it shorts the connection and generates an alarm as it should.

As a note, the BRK relay *requires* 120v to operate. So if the power is out and your smokes go off, then the Elk won't know about it. But, it's better than what I had, and I'm not about to run all new smokes. I ran 800 feet of wire over the past 3 days, and I'm not even half done with the alarm. Then I have 42 more ports of ethernet to run. Wiring sucks. :)
