After updating snaplink and my OIIe firmware to the newest 3.0 versions I get the following screens in snaplink:

SnaplinkError.jpg

I am running this on Vista x64 if that makes a difference.

****NOTE - When I run this on my Windows Home Server everything is fine. It must be something about Vista Ultimate x64 that it doesn't like.

Thanks!

It's not just you; I have the same issue with Windows XP 32 bit. I run it in a VirtualBox and when this problem comes up, I have to disconnect and reconnect to the panel and all is good again. It would be nice to see HAI weigh in on this issue.

An updated version corrected my problems.

I am not sure why you are having this problem, but Snap-Link (version 1.1.13) has been tested and works fine on Vista 32/64 bit and windows 7 32/64 bit and with 3.x controller firmware.

When does this happen? (as soon as you connect or after a while)

Do you get any error messages?

Hi Fred:

No errors, but I have just been able to reliably reproduce the issue; it only seems to happen when I click on the control button. If I stay off of that button, it seems to work fine. If I click on that button, then subsequent buttons bring up fields with no data, just dashes where you expect the data to be populated. The version I am running is 1.1.13.227.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide and thanks in advance for your feedback.

The additional information is useful.

The status update is handled by a background process that continuously polls for status for whatever you are looking at in the user interface. The fact that this process stops or get's hung when you view the Control page would indicate that there is something on that page that it doesn't like.

To isolate the problem, first make sure the configuration in Snap-Link matches the controller. Go to the Options page and check "Retrieve Setup On Connect" then disconnect and reconnect to the controller. After it downloads the setup you can go and uncheck this option to get quicker startups, but whenever you change the controller configuration you must do this again.

If the configuration is up to date and the problem persists, and it repeatable, then you should make an EXP file of your controller configuration from PC Access and e-mail it to HAI Tech Support ([email protected]). In the e-mail make sure you describe the problem ("Snap-Link stops updating status whenever you view the control page"), mention that you were discussing it with me (Fred Hebert) on the CocoonTech forum, and ask then to forward it to me. I will take a look and see what is causing the problem.
