I haven't used them but they exist.

I've tried that it doesnt work well, I was thinking this http://www.amazon.com/Control-Audio-Selector-Switcher-Splitter/dp/B003C15798/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336356907&sr=8-1

Do you want/need it to stay SPDIF? If not there are plenty of converters - you can split to different formats.

I didn't look at the specs too closely on what you linked, but the title said it was a switcher - do you want the outputs to be on simultaneously or do you want it switched?

Can you share for the rest of the community what was wrong with the generic splitter that was posted? Experience is always great to share with everyone so they don't have to waste money on something that doesn't work.

Work 2 Play: it just didn't work,no audio, was loose on connectors, and was very cheap ( I think I paid like $2), but on the flip side it's very possible it could be defective. You are correct about that current device being a switcher but I'm assuming that only correlates with the 4 inputs. My goal is to use at least one input (I'll probably find a reason for 2 eventually), and to have both outputs play on two stereos. The reason I can't switch formats is I'm using xbmc and that's the program determining my sound and I want it to stay digital. But if you have any suggestions I'm all ears.

In case anyone else has the same dilema as I did, this works perfectly for my 2 25 foot Optical cables http://www.amazon.com/Control-Audio-Selector-Switcher-Splitter/dp/B003C15798/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336356907&sr=8-1&tag=5336653668-20
