Spoken Notifications from ELK M1

Guys,
good evening. I am dead tired after running 3500ft of cable in the last two days. I am pretty much done and the sheet rock will go up tomorrow.

I had to deviate a bit from the original plan due to stud locations and existing outlets. The original plan called for a Keypad in the Master Bed Room but this was not done now as I would have ended either behind the door or in some wired corner.

I still ran an additional Cat5e to an area where the TV will be just in case.

My question - what equipment is needed to get spoken notifications from the ELK in the Master Bedroom?

Thanks!

You will need a speaker of some type, such as the SP12F or ELK-70.  Even if you had placed a keypad in the bedroom, you would still need a speaker, as the keypads themselves don't contain one.

OK thanks - so I have the ELK-73 Echo that came in the package which will be in the living room. Would I be able to have two speakers on the ELK or do I need an additional hardware?

You can connect multiple speakers, but you need to connect them so that the resulting impedance is in the 4 to 8 ohm range.

The ELK-70 and 73 are 8 ohm speakers, so you could connect two of these in parallel, which would give you 4 ohms.

If you had 4 of these that you wanted to connect, you would need to pair them up and put 2 in series with each other to form a 16 ohm pair, and then put two pairs in parallel, which would result in 8 ohms being connected to the M1.

If you throw SP12F's into the mix, it gets a little more complicated since they are 32 ohm speakers.  But still, you could connect the ELK-73 and a SP12F in parallel for a 6.4 ohm result, and everything would be fine.
