Stay Mode / Exit button to restart exit timer

I noticed an odd behavior regarding pressing the "Exit" button when in stay mode, I am not sure if this is as designed or a problem. Say my panel is armed in Stay mode and the exit timer has counted down. Later on I press the "Exit" button and I see the exit timer restart with the delay for "Exit 1". I can open an "Exit 1" door without tripping the alarm. Sometimes (but not always) if I close the door and re-open it, still with the "exit 1" timer counting down, it will go into alarm. It's strange because this doesn't always happen.

The other odd thing I notice is that in the situation above (having pressed Exit to restart the "Exit 1" timer), if I open my garage door, which is "exit 2" and force armed configured, it will send my panel into alarm right away. I'm not sure if this is related to the force armed configuration for this zone, I have not tested that yet.

It sounds like you have the "Restart Exit Timer" option selected which is a let the dog out feature by pressing the Exit button when the system is armed.

Pressing the Exit button only restarts Exit 1 timer, not exit 2 timer.

Pressing the exit button again will restart my timer as well. Not sure about the intermittent zone violations though. Might be a programmig thing if you've got anything involving that zone. Just a thought.

Yes, I should have specified, I do have the "Restart Exit Timer" option enabled.

Pressing the Exit button only restarts Exit 1 timer, not exit 2 timer.

So that explains why my garage door (exit 2) still trips the alarm.

The problem I am left with is that if I press exit to restart the exit 1 timer, open my exit 1 door, close it, open it again while the exit 1 timer is still counting down, it will intermittently trip the alarm. It does not happen all the time though, only intermittently. I do not press exit a 2nd time, I just open the door a 2nd time during the initial count down. Sometimes it does not trip the alarm (as expected), sometimes it does.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but I have a question on the stay mode similar to above. If I activate the stay mode and have permeiter doors set to entry 1 and then just open one the alarm instantly goes off with no delay. But reading in the manual it seems to say that the delay set will be recognized so that you will get the 30 seconds (or whatever you have programmed in) delay before the alarm goes off.

The situation we are running into is that I changed the alarm to go into stay mode automatically at night. Everyone then forgets, opens a door, and the alarm goes off instead of giving them the 30 seconds to disarm.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Sounds like you have 'stay instant' configured instead of 'stay'.
