Surgebreakers?

I was looking at this thing: QSA2020SPD. It's a 20-amp dual-pole breaker with a built-in whole home surge suppressor. The advantage is no need to tear up drywall, no extra box to mount, etc. Anyone have an opinion on the quality of these devices? Given the size, I can't imagine there's much more than just a couple of MOVs inside.
 
Any idea how one of these would compare to the bigger whole-home surge suppressors that come with their own box?

I would say to comapre the ratings for starters. Anything is better than nothing.
 
I have one of these on each panel. One in the detatched garage and one on the house main.

The Ditek unit appears to have a lower clamping voltage if I read and compare the two correctly. It also appears to have a higher clamping current rating.

I'm sure other surge Guru's will shed some light.
 
Don't forget your grounds are just as important (if not more) as a good surge device.
 
The Ditek units are about 2 to 3 times the cost of the Siemens unit
