since the pc is right next to the doorbell controller, if i went x-10 i would need- a cm19a and a ds10a?  <$30...  i didn't see any wired windows contacts for zwave or more modern tech.

Note sure - http://downloads.monoprice.com/files/manuals/10795_Manual_131204.pdf if the external switch connection here, refers to a closing of the contacts?  I anticipate buying more zwave products in the future if this pans out.

not sure if it is relevant but i have a upb lighting system,but thats probably not helpful in this scenario.

 
Simply Automated has a UPB Multi I/O module that is extremely flexible. It might work to use with the aux relay or even the doorbell itself.  Spec sheet here
