Tips on swapping wireless receivers?

I'm about to upgrade my main Elk install with some XIN and XOVR boards and also swap out the GE wireless receiver for an Elk XRF.

First question is where to address the XINs and XRF. Am I correct in understanding that I can address the XRF at data bus address 2, starting zone 17 and then have the XINs higher up in the address space, e.g. addresses 11 & 12? This would allow me to keep the keyboard address space (zones 193-208) and also put in a future redundant XRF as address 3?

If the above can be done, then the next question is: can I preserve the existing wireless sensor and zone definitions? I know that I'll have to reflash the M1 with the XRF series 5.x.x firmware. Do I have to remove both the existing wireless expander and zones before doing so?

Thanks

p.s. the major reason I'm swapping out the GE receiver for the XRF is to be able to add a 2nd XRF in an outbuilding for additional coverage

The site appears to be down now, but there is a good chart in the XRF manual that shows various addressing options.

Steve, thanks. Yes, I actually have the XRF, have the manual and have read it cover to cover. However, there appear to be various options available, so this is really a question looking for confirmation of one approach.

Ok, then yes, I believe your address scheme should work ok. I did it the other way around - saving like 48 zones for XIN, then starting wireless at 49, but it should work fine either way. I believe when you flash to 5.x you will lose everything and will have to re-upload from RP or set them up manually. I'm not sure if you can just reuse existing definitions swapping GE for Elk receiver. It's really just the zone numbers, so I would think that you could. Spanky would have to confirm for sure - he is the father of the XRF.

Swapping from a GE receiver to an ELK receiver will reinitialize the EEProm memory in the ELK M1. You can not load a file from ELKRP that was made for a GE receiver into a M1 setup for the ELK receiver.

Spanky, thanks for the response. Does this mean that not only do I get a defaulted M1, but I must start a new account in RP for the M1 too? No way to move over any of the existing programming?!?
