Trident will make z-wave chips

Trident IoT is a new chip company that claims to be taping out their z-wave chips within a month and sending samples to customers before the end of the year. This would end the "single source" limitation of z-wave. Trident-based devices probably would not hit the market until late 2024/early 2025 given production cycles.

They're going up against a giant, but that's a very impressive team!

Pretty sure SiLab is happy about this. They are the ones that opened the chipset to other manufacturers. If having two chip suppliers helps device manufacturers be willing to ship z-wave devices, it's a long term win.

Anything that strengthens the Z-Wave marketplace is a rising tide for all Z-wave makers. I'm sure Silicon Labs is also quite happy.
