Hello all, sorry for my first post being a question but here goes.
I have house that I bought 3 years ago, it was built in 1997. It had a home automation systen in it that I do not use and I have removed much of it. I've got many HomePro switches that are slowly failing and when I attemp to wire in standard switches I usually (aways) have a difficult time.
One room has what I would term a HomePro brand automated single pole dimmer switch operating a light. It had some sort of light sensor that was failng, it would turn the light on in daylight conditions. I am changing the old light to a fan/light combo and I plan to use one of those remotes that operate from a closed switch (always on). I just wanted to install a standard, simple, non dimming single pole switch in place of this HomePro switch and I can't figure out how to go from an automated switch to a standard.
The switch box has two other switches, three total all on the same circuit, all single pole. Up at the light fixture that I want to change to a fan I have a standard 14/2 romax with a ground. but at the switch I have two black wires (line and load), the white neutrals from all three switches and the line are all tied together and I have a red wire.
The switch that came out is a HomePro HPSS 120VAC Slave Switch. It had two black wires and a red wire tied to it. The two black wires went to screws both called "live" and the red wire went to a screw called "switch".
I know this is easier to deal with when you can see it or test it but can anybode give me any hints here? I either get no voltage to the light, low voltage or too much voltage.
Thanks Folks.
