TV Mounting

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone has experience mounting a flat screen tv over a mantel on a stone or brick fireplace? Not so much worried about the physical mounting but more about how the cables were hid/routed. I would have to get both HDMI, either through balums or an actual HDMI cable, and power to the location. Are their special cables to use around hi heat sources like a fireplace? The video equipment is around 20 ft from were the tv would be. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

I am not sure the specifics of your fire place but when I cut a hole above mine the actual fire place was enclosed in a plenum or metal chimney column. So there was plenty of room to get the cables through there and out to my components. And the plenum enclosure for the fireplace stops the heat from comming out. I actually use this Datacom part to get power behind my TV and it was very successful. Both myself and my electrician watched how to use this product on YouTube!
