Unable to add CQC Elk Driver

slowmo

New user to CQC and 6 months user of Elk-M1.

I'm unable to add the CQC ELK Driver; Driver State: Waiting for Comm Resource. Not problem communicating with the ELK-M1 via ELK-RP. The Port, Protocol and Address is the same as in the M1XEP Setup.

Any thoughts,

Scott

The "Wait for comm resource" message usually means something else has control of that port.

Dumb question but you're not trying to access the Elk with two programs at the same time, are you?

In ElkRP, in the M1XEP setup, in the TCP/IP settings, did you check the enable non-secure port?

If so, did you disconnect from ElkRP first? You can only hold a connection with one software program at a time.

Thanks Micah and IVB,
The ELK-RP has the port. Learn something everyday. So can I setup the CQC to communicate on other port?

No, you need to disconnect from ElkRP before connecting to CQC. You won't need to use both programs concurrently, ElkRP is just for setup.

Thanks much!!

You can leave the driver in place while you use RP. RP will ask the driver to back off until further notice, and then when RP exits it'll let the driver go again. But the driver cannot initially connect if you bring it up while RP is active, since it doesn't know why it's not getting any love, and assumes the Elk isn't there.

Just a quick question,

Its it possible for say the HSeer elk plugin and the cqc driver to send and receive infomation from the elk at the same
time, through the eth interface?...or through different ports?....or if hs was using the eth interface and cqc was using the
serial interface.

Also I think their may be some type of program that manages the ports that allows mulitple conections at the same time, would something like this work?

Thanks
Mark

When the M1 is in Installer Program Mode (via keypad or ELK RP) it ignores incoming commands on its Ethernet ports (factory defaults: non-secure: 2101; secure: 2601).

During this mode, external software cannot control or monitor the M1. Any commands issued to the M1 result in an "RP" command reply (RP0100) which indicates the M1 is busy.

When the M1 exits Installer Program Mode, it broadcasts an "IE" command (IE00) indicating its readiness to receive commands.

As far as HomeSeer & CQC concurrently - No, only one program can hold the port open at one time.

The ethernet interface plugs into the Elk M1 at the serial interface, so you can't get both there either.

Why would you want to have both programs running? If you had CQC, you wouldn't need homeseer.
