The LED does not work on the switch because it is not controlling a load directly. Like Robert said, the LED tracks the load (whatever is hooked up to with switches brown wire). In this example you are using the switch to just transmit a link to another device, the UFR. The US240 only has that 1 LED, it does not have individual lighted buttons and I think that is what you want in this case. If you use something like the HAI or PCS button controller, and program and individual button to control the UFR, then that individual button will light when on and blank when off. There is no multicolor LED that tracks links/scenes, only direct loads. Does that make sense?

OK... I was thinking that it would work off of button press when ir was used this way and that it would display on if one iof the buttons were pressed. Sounds like the HAI is actually more of what I need.

Theoretically, seven of those buttons will have no effect on the led. I have that issue on one of my installs and until you understand the functioning of the led it can throw you. It is not as straight forward as a single rocker that controls a local load. Each push of that switch changes the led.

You could do that and cap off the load but that is a waste for simply getting an led to track. Why not use the US240 to control a non existent load and the UFD link together on the same button. You will lose the local load but you should get the led tracking.

I put the SA US2-40 in and I reinstalled the UFD... I now can turn on and off the UFD from UPStart... still working on getting the us2-40 to turn it on and off though.

If you are having trouble getting a switch (us240) to transmit/control a UFD be sure to check all the transmit enable boxes on the options tab. This is a common missing step for new users.

I think it's the Z11 option that gives you a single rocker. Maybe you could explain the setup so I could picture the situation. What room, wall, what are you controlling, etc. We'll make this thing work.

If the wires for the device you want to control are at the switch location, you do not need the UFR, you can simply hook it to the load wire of the switch and everything will work including the LED tracking. But I'm guessing that ceiling fan wire is not present in a switch location.

I have a UFD module in the ceiling for the room lights (these were put in after the home was built and were controlled wirelessly with X10), there is constant power to these lights... the wall switch was being used for a switched outlet which I no longer wish to have switched. I installed the SA 2/40 in that location and capped the load going to the switched outlet. I would like to use the SA 2/40 to just control the UFD in that room (it is our sons' room and he doesn't need to be able to control other things from his room).... I would like to have the LED work as when the room is dark you can see where the switch is by the blue LED. Is this enough info?

Try this. Create a link that has the UFD and the SA2/40 (it is talking to itself and controls the load) as the receive. Set one of the buttons of the SA2/40 to transmit that link. Set the led tracking for the SA2/40 load and make sure the transmit checkbox is checked for the correct button so it transmits the link. Cap off the load wire. You should get the UFD to fire and be able to see the led change because of the capped off load in the link.

Strange................. tonight I hit the button to turn off the light and the light went off... but when I tried to turn it on it would not go on (but I could hear the swich in the ceiling click). So I went into the Upstart software... it showed that the switch was on but that the ceiling module was not. I then did test on the ceiling module to turn it on and it showed it was on but there still were no lights. So I deleted the wall switch and figured I would start all over.... When I tried to put it into setup mode the LED goes constant green and UPstart doesn't find it. I have tried several times but I am unable to get the switch into setup mode. All I get is a constant green LED. do I need to remove the switch from the wall and start over?

Before you remove it try to air gap it first.

So I went into the Upstart software... it showed that the switch was on but that the ceiling module was not. I then did test on the ceiling module to turn it on and it showed it was on but there still were no lights. So I deleted the wall switch and figured I would start all over.... Have you pulled the airgap switch for a moment to reset the switch? If that doesn't get it working you may need to do a factory reset: 5 taps, flashing green led... 10 taps, flash red led.... 2 taps, normal operation. Then do an "Install/replace" or build the switch from scratch.
