USB Stick 'Semephore time out period expired'

ok...yes i shoudl have made some backups....but i didn't..soooo...

I have some important stuff on a USB stick and the stick started misbehaving, it cannot be read in windows. It gives me 'semaphore time out period expired' error.

A google search give me some options which i've tried...but not much luck so far.

Anybody have any suggestions?

There are flash drive recovery programs out there...some legit, some probably less so. *shrug*

The seem to be associated with Sandisk and the USB flash drive in question is a Sandisk.

They want $75, but don't charge unless they are succesfull.
