Hi Guys

Thought some might be interested in my current project ..Vegie Garden Moisture Monitor ...
I currently have a 6 zone vegie irrigation system and decided to try and setup a system were a zone only gets watered if required..With my current setup all zones are watered sequencialy...
What im working on is an 8 zone system which when requested reports the value of the requested zone via a serial interface ....
The controller im using is the same type as i used for my vegie irrigation controller from Futurelec

http://www.futurlec.com/PIC16F877_Controller.shtml

The analog inputs will interface via a small veroboard......

My diy moisture probes consist of 2 3mm stainless threaded rods mounted on a plastic coupling...
There is a bi coloured led also mounted on the probe to display the moisture status...red = dry ...green = wet...The leds are connected to my probe monitor pcb....

One of the xPL programmers is writing a plugin for it ,once thats done i,ll install the system and see how it goes.....

Normally i program my pics in assembler but with this project i have done it in Ladder logic...

This looks very interesting! Do you have pictures of the probes installed? How long is the distance between the garden and controller?

Hi Dan

I haven,t installed the probe system as yet as im waiting for the xPL plugin so i can bench test....Will take some pics once that,s done...The longest distance cable wise is approx 5m..thats why i went for this setup...Im still looking into using a ds10 interface for my garden bed moisture monitoring ..
