Webcontrol and dynamic dns, can it be done?

I have a dynamic IP address from my ISP provider. So when the address chnages and I won't be able to access the webcontrols static port. Is it possible to use a service like "No-Ip" or "DynDNS" to access my webcontrol remotely from outside my LAN?

Yes. In your router, forward your CAI's port to whatever IP address you have the CAI on in your LAN. It doesn't matter whether you type in the URL name provided by your dyndns service or enter the current IP address. It is all the same. You do have to enter ":chosenportnumber" after either.

ok thanks. I think I got it to work using "No-Ip" I was confused becuase I though I needed to put the port number into the dns website but your right I can just add the port numer to it when I address it. Now to see how reliable it is.

Thanks

I have used no-ip and never had trouble with it. Although I currently use dyndns and also have no troubles with it.

I read on the "No-IP" website I need to re-activate my acount every 30days for the free version. Or if the IP doesn't chnage in 30 days it will deactivate. Does DynDNS do this? I would rather just set it up free and not have to worry about it every 30 days.

I don't think dyndns offers free accounts anymore. I have 2 free accounts with them that appear to be grandfathered in. I was looking for a way to sing up a friend for dyndns for free and couldn't find anything. So, if it is there, it is hidden.
