Webcontrol8 - A history in pictures....

Cai_Support, I assume you guys kept alot of the old boards that you made (alpha, beta, various versions).

Could you walk us through a history of the webcontrol8? Maybe a brief specs too? (like what changed between alpha to beta and from the version 1.0 boards to the ver 2.0 boards)

I myself find it very interesting to look at old designs and see where they differ and why.

Plus maybe we well get a brainstorm on a layout or something? who knows?

Thanks

Hi BBsux,

We currently sell hardware 2.2.2 revision boards. Last publicly sold boards are 2.0.2 boards. When we designed 2.0.2 boards, we thought about enable RS232 ports and RS485/422 ports. However, the processor space is not enough to support those features.
In 2.2.2 version hardware, we decided to give up the RS232 and RS485/422 support.
We improved 1-wire bus control circuit in V2.2.2 hardware. We changed powering the 1-wire bus from 3.3V to 5V.
We also improved the A/D input protection circuit clamped input too low problem.

Because the code space limitation, the RS232/RS485 enabled code never gets to the public, so that the older boards have some portion of the PCB not populated with parts.

was the processor change a "major" change (like they stopped making the chip) or merely upgraded slightly?

BTW is there another chip you could upgrade to again that would net more ram and memory? (if I knew what chip you were using I could check)

I'd pay extra for that if it meant we could get a few of our ideas implemented.

You guys probably do a thousand boards or more at a time I bet the cost gets pretty reasonable.
