What's the perfect pre-wire?

The HA community , in my experience, is by far the most congenial insofar as discussions go. (At least the ones I frequent - AVS, Cocoontech, CQC).

I highly doubt IVB had any "hidden agenda".

On the one hand, I see the value of a wiki. No sifting through mountains of messages (sometimes literally hundreds) to get what you need. I've def spent time Googling to get back to one message buried on one thread in the bowels of CT. A centralized source of data that is easily updated by the community might lend itself to better long-term accuracy.

On the other hand, people get "in the mode" of reading the discussion forums and may not think of going to a wiki. Or it may not make sense to them. A "first message in a thread" that is continually updated is not at all a bad idea.

Why is it not possible to do both? Either one, if not updated adequately, would potentially lead a well-intentioned newvbie in the wrong direction, of course.

I really haven't paid too much attention to the opinions being discussed on in this thread, but I do feel like I have to make an observation....

We can have a very friendly conversation about religion, but not about prewiring? Something is very wrong here..... :)
