Whole house surge supressor with dry contacts?

Helping a friend design his new house systems and looking for a whole house surge suppressor with dry contacts that allow monitoring by the ELK M1 so that when it fails the Elk can notify the homeowner. The electrical utilities closet is separate from the house so they will not hear an audible alarm that most of the surge suppressor units have.

I believe Ditek has one: Give me a few to find it...

Edit:

This isn't exactly what you were looking for but it's close, only one leg for one circuit:

I would call them and ask if they still make one similar to this with a dry contact:

They used to. Good luck.

This might be what you need.

It's an industrial unit but it's the smallest one them make with a dry contact.

Just noticed your $300 comment and I am not sure the ditek is going to meet your needs. I can't remember the price off the top of my head.

Actually the Ditek unit is pretty close. I'm finding prices online for around $500. The best I could find before this was dry contacts on units that were at least $1,000. So thanks for this suggestion.

Maybe it's an idea to take a cheaper regular whole hour surge suppressor but somehow monitor the LED's on it with a light sensors or something? It wouldn't be the most professional solution ever...but it could work.

I have a Leviton whole house surge suppressor, but it doesnt have relays. So I wouldn't necessarily notice if it was tripped.

Are these things safe to use with an Insteon system, or will they absorb "noise" on the powerline, even if generated internally?

I have the Ditek WH-8 system on my house. The lightening arrestor and the TVSS (HD3) do not affectmy insteon operation. I have about 10 or so devices. One of them located 100' away in a shed for a motion light and it also works reliably.

They are mostly voltage sensitive devices. Once the hit a voltage threshold they "work" so to speak. I think Insteon will just be "noise" to these devices.

I still like the Joslyn/Surgepack that can be seen in one of the links/threads a few posts back. It has indicator lights on the front. My panel and the Surgepack are right in the garage next to the entry door so I see it several times a day and would know if it stopped working. It's actually kinda creepy at night, it looks like little orange eyes peering from the garage in the dark. It works fine with UPB.
