Z-Troller™ Z-Wave® Controller/PC Interface

I think what he is saying is once you rebuild your network w/the troller (New Primary) you would walk over and copy it. The unit operates on Batterys as well a plugin power. This also works when adding new devices to your house. You would disconnect it from the PC/HS and learn the new devices and then reattach and sync w/HS.

I am not 100% positive about that but I guess Mark or Rupp could confirm

I hope so, I have no problem with doing the rebuild on the new unit, but once its rebuilt, the new configuration would need to be copied to the Elk-M1XZW. I posted a similar post on the HS board this morning hoping to hear how to copy information to a seconday controller but haven't had any response yet. There information on the description of the Z-Troller talks about using a button in HomeSeer to "copy" to a secondary device. If you disconnect it for the PC/HS, I really don't think the button in HS will still function. There needs to be a "Copy" function on the Z-Troller itself and I'm hoping HST will clarify this for us.

Yes, technically you can replicate a primary controller, but only if you have all new controllers. The current ACT remote does not support this, nor does the Intermatic. So at this time, I don't see a use for this feature. Once we see handheld remotes in the field, we will consider adding this ability. Hope this makes sense.

Pod,

I actually misspoke in my original post here. I see what you want to do, and it should work. I tried it here with a ZTH100 and it worked. After you click the "Create Secondary" in HomeSeer, unplug the Z-Troller and move it over to your panel. Then start the secondary receiving. Since the Z-Troller is battery powered, this works. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks Rich,
Sounds great. Any idea of how quickly one would need to get the Z-Troller in range of the secondary device before it might time out? Wouldn't want someone to break there neck running down two flights of stairs (HS on second floor and M1G in basement).

I don't believe there is a timeout, if there is, its minutes. HS can send a command to cancel the action, that is how we get out of that mode.

Could we get some reports on the rediscover function? Once you get the network learned, move some plugin modules around and/or unplug all together and let us know the performance difference before and after the rediscover.
