Z-Wave and mBed microcontrollers

I was trying to google some information on using my mbed as a z-wave controller, but i couldn't find any good information on this. I looked into OpenZWave API a little bit, and was thinking of purchasing the SDK somewhere down the line, but before i do that i want to consider the cheapest options.

I'm trying to start a new project soon to get a better grasp on z-wave and would love some help finding some good resources!

Best Regards,
Chris

Just for a quick update, i go a hold of some of the datasheets, and i will start updating my project for anyone who is interested in it. Might need some help every now and then. (I ended up buying the SDK for z-wave just for the fun of it).

I'm going to start up drawing some schematics soon and will post up pictures when i get to soldering/wiring them. Wish me best of luck for not burning all my projects :D

Best Regards,
Chris

Dear Chris,

Interesting. I want to do the same: designing an UART to Z-wave bridge with a microchip microcontroller and a ZM3102.

Currently, I haven't buy the sdk because I don't know what you can do with.

Can you tell me if the sdk contains examples and compiler to shortly programm the ZM3102 and that without the need of a dedicated programmer provided by sigma designs?

Did you buy extra hardware with the SDK?

Kind regards

Laurent

I actually discontinued this project for a bit, i ran out of time doing this unfortunately. Sorry i couldn't notify anyone else earlier. I was about to use this http://www.silabs.com/products/interface/usbtouart/Pages/default.aspx (SiLabs) before i stopped my project.

The SDK has a alot of examples to program the z-wave chip, they do provide C# and C++ examples on how to program the devices in their development kit and software design kit. I am hoping to continue the project sometimes in May.

I generally took apart my project so i can work on my Wi-Fi home automation project.
