The M1 treats all lighting about the same. Some systems like Zwave have specific addresses that do special things like groups, scenes, thermostats, or individual control. So, does it matter (feature wise) to the M1, RP, HA system, etc if you use X10, UPB, Zwave OR Insteon? Or do they all act the same way and you just have basic on/off/dim?
You have all the control commands in the X-10 command set including preset dim. Ramp rates are being implimented also.
The M1 maintains a lighting map of all the lighting devices that it can hear on the lighting network, whatever it is. Whenever that lighting map changes, the M1 sends that light change out all serial ports attached to the M1. This real time information can be received by a PC to do other changes in the HA system. :angry:When a light is turned on by a rule, does the Elk report that the light is now on out to the serial port? Or does that have to be polled for? What about if the light was turned on via a mini controller or something? Assume that the HA doesn't have a way to listen directly to the powerline/protocol since HomeSeer doesn't support UPB (without xAP) or Insteon.
