SMC & Audio

I chatted with DigiKey yesterday and found a Phoenix part that uses screw terminals rather than the spring clamps :) They are roughly $1ea. Also found the Phoenix end caps and the snap in marker strips.

I'll be ordering these as soon as I get all the wiring pulled and get ready to start terminating. Ordered (4) 1000' boxes of Cat6 yesterday. That wasn't cheap! I need to check all my other wire supplies and see if I'm going to have enough for everything else (speaker, alarm, etc).

Seeing cat 5a CCA cable now at $30 a spool of 1000 feet.

Folks are still buying this cable these days and it still appears to be utilized in commercial installs which is odd to me.

Googled solid copper spools and 50% of the hits were CCA cable.  Average prices for real copper now is between $60-100.

Curious what you paid for the cat6 cable.

I came across these 'budget' screw terminal blocks when researching Wago   https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Terminal_Blocks/Konnect-It_DIN-Rail_Terminal_Blocks/Double-level_Feed-Through_Terminal_Blocks/KN-D12GRY   You might be able to save a few bucks - looks like $83 plus S/H for 100 'double decker' feed-through TBs, half the cost of the 'single level' feed through. I wanted the 'cage clamp'.

Here are the terminals I think I'm going with. Helps that they are sold EA as well:

Unfortunately they only have 14,000+ in stock. Not sure that's going to cover it... LOL!

There is most probably a 'double decker' option in that series that will save you space and money. That would allow you to use 2 TBs for each zone rather than 4.

Yeah, there are; I looked into those as well, but prefer the aesthetics of having everything on a single level. I'm probably just going to order a few at first, get them in hand and then make a decision before I order all of them. Will probably cost me a bit more in shipping, but I'd rather do that than to order a bunch of them and never use them because they aren't what I wanted.
