Elk siren whispering to me during the day

I put a resistor in parallel with the siren and it's quieter now, but still making a little bit of noise. It's definitely much better than it was. I'll assume that this is just a result of the siren supervision (low voltage or low current leak through the device to make sure it's still there)...

Elk siren whispering to me during the day

I just plugged in a 12-volt self-driven siren to the Elk panel, and noticed the siren was producing a low-level siren sound. I checked and saw I had that output set to siren mode so I switched it to voltage mode, but the low-level siren sound is still happening. What can I do to silence it...

    Elk zone types

Ah, good idea. Hadn't thought of that :P I'm not very familiar with the zone reporting stuff, so I'll have to poke around some. Thanks!

    Elk zone types

I'm trying to find an Elk zone definition that will log in the event log, but not send alarm communication events. Aux 1/2 24 Hour will both log and send communicator reports, but No Alarm will neither log nor send communicator reports. I need something in between :P

    Elk M1XEP & changing routers

Ah, but you cannot add an additional address if your interface's primary address was acquired by DHCP (in Windows....Linux doesn't care, you can ifconfig eth0:1, eth0:2, etc all you want  )

How to mount remote input boards for M1?

3M double-sided foam tape is available in most hardware stores and is quite strong.

    Weather station recommnedations?

With weather stations, you very much get what you pay for, $100-$200 isn't going to get you anything that will be reliable. Check the reviews on www.eham.net for weather stations, the WMR-968 doesn't fare very well there. My friend got a LaCrosse station for about $200 that he's had nothing...

    Elk Keypad/Thermostat wiring ???

The data bus hub takes care of the splicing at the panel side, but you still need to tie certain cable pairs together at each keypad (documented in the manual that comes with the M1DBH). So, the total run goes something like: Elk -> DBH -> Keypad 1 -> DBH -> Keypad 2 -> DBH -> Keypad 3 -> DBH

Elk keypad stopped registering keyfob access

The reader itself was beeping, the keypad just didn't register any access events. When I went into the automation menu and toggled the door strike there, then exited the menu, the keypad began registering keyfob access events again.

Elk keypad stopped registering keyfob access

We have a prox reader wired to an Elk keypad, and have a rule set up: WHENEVER ACCESS KEYPAD x, TURN ON OUTPUT y FOR 4 SECONDS Output y is a relay controlling an electric door strike. Earlier today (while I was away from the office unfortunately), it just stopped working. I got in and ran my...

    Suggestions on Wifi

High gain antennas do not work well for multiple floors. As you increase the gain of the antenna, you flatten out its radiation pattern. So it will send more RF straight out to the sides, but not quite as much up.

    Multiple Elk web users

Ok, I must have been doing something wrong then. Thanks!

    Multiple Elk web users

Is there a way to have multiple users on the Elk web interface? It seems very limiting for it to allow only one connection at a time.

    Suggestions on Wifi

I'd try something in the middle of the house, make it an equal distance from the outermost rooms in the attic and basement. I had an access point in the basement of a 5000sqft 2-story house (2 finished floors plus basement) and it covered the whole house just fine.
