    Any good non-directional LED bulbs?

Fyi... I was referring to the 40w equivalent ecosmart (rebranded LSG), same bulb and same lumen rating as 40w equiv definity. The 60w equivalent of course is rated higher lumens.

    Any good non-directional LED bulbs?

FYI... I recently bought from HD for 20 bucks. I plan to buy more. Good light color, just a tad bit whiter than an incandescent but very close, I like the color. I don't plan to use them on a dimmer but put it on one very briefly, dims pretty well, not all the way to zero though. One thing I...

Networx X10 (NX540 Operator) Cable Question

Spent a lot of time searching for an answer but can't find any info... Please help... Does anyone know the pinout of the x10 jack on the NX-540 Operator board? Does it just use a standard RJ14 telephone cord or do I need to creat a custom cable? Thanks.

Dial out with GE Network X

Can't do it. I programmed mine to call my cell phone number (just put my number in in-place of the central station number). The NX8 can't speak, so I simply get a call and I can see from caller id that it is from my home so I know the alarm sounded. Unfortunately I believe that's the best...

    Alarm Announcements/Alarm sync issues

Just a thought... Does the sync issue occur when the panel dials out via telephone line (if you have voice dial enabled)? The omni has only one voice, so when it dials out to voice the alert via the phone I think you will lose voice announcements during that time. I dont have an hai panel...

    OPII and Z-Wave

fyi... z-wave is not powerline so will not interfere with the upb or x10. And there are many folks on here that use both upb and x10 together and I've heard of no issues.

    Doorbell on OmniPro II

Be aware that the hai panel uses a 300ms response time on all zones.... and the elk doorbell detector activates the zone only while the doorbell is pressed. So unless the person holds the button down for more than 1/3 second, the panel may not detect it. You probably need a pulse-extender...

    Dimmers and CFL/LED, z-wave, upb

oberkc, you are right, the bill does not specifically state that 'incandescent' will be phased out, although many legitimate internet sites do say that incandescents are being phased out. I guess they will be by 'tier 2' but that's years later. The energystar web site clears it up with the...

    Dimmers and CFL/LED, z-wave, upb

Regarding dimmers and CFL/LED bulbs... I have not made the plunge into a lighting control technology yet... but looking at options... From what I understand, UPB dimmers support dimmable CFL/LED (they use neutral and therefore do not require a minimum load), and can be configured to 'snap' also...

    Electronic circuit question

A standard 1N4001 diode would be fine (avail at radio shack, etc). The datasheet for that data logger says to not connect anything else but a contact-closure to the input (and you would have the elk connected also), but it would probably be fine with the diode in place. The diode will prevent...

Anyone using HAI GE Wireless Receiver (42A00)?

So, I guess I'm not sure if it is worth spending ~300 on the HAI 42A00 receiver, or just spending ~175 total to add a quickbridge and 10A06 16 zone expander, especially if the quickbridge is less 'quirky'.

OMNI with both UPB and Z-Wave ?

Now you have me interested in zigbee... been reading up on it. Does (or will) the omni panel support zigbee? Doesnt look like there is much currently available for switches and modules. I see mention of Centralite in the omni manual. I also see that hai announced new omnistats with zigbee...

OMNI with both UPB and Z-Wave ?

Any problems running both upb and zwave devices on the same omni iie controller? I was initially thinking that UPB was better supported with HAI, but it seems that Zwave is supported just as well... and I think status updates are handled just as well with both (would be using vizia rf+). If my...

Anyone using HAI GE Wireless Receiver (42A00)?

I am puting together a list of what I need to install a complete hai system (II or IIe). I currently have GE wireless sensors throughout the house with my existing NX8 system. Wondering if there are many folks using the ge wireless 42a00 receiver. This is going to be a big purchase and it's...

    M1G and Omnistat2

Regarding whether Omnistat2 is supported on the M1... The recent Feb firmware release (for the M1 - not for the serial expander) shows the following: "Added capability to communicate ASCII commands to an HAI Omnistat 2 thermostat. NOTE: Due to memory constraints this command is ONLY available...
