    Crestron via HTTP

Is it possible to control a Crestron A/V system via HTTP? The goal would be to use a device that can talk simple HTTP/REST to send scene commands of some sort. I'm new to the Crestron world, so I may need help refining the question. I have seen the documents on a Crestron SDK for .NET. That...

    Apartment-style HVAC

I have a getaway place that has a through-wall heat/AC unit. It's a multi-tenant building with central controls of heat/AC, but where individuals have some degree of fan control and temperature. The problem is that for fan settings you have OFF/LOW/MED/HIGH as your only choices. The fan never...

    RedBee RFID

Sure. I see what you mean about the security aspects. I would not have this disable the alarm. I was also thinking that you wouldn't have physical access to the device. I don't know if it would work through the brick wall since it's best range is 4.5". I guess I may have to go with a more...

    RedBee RFID

I just ran across this RFID reader and figured I'd share it with the group. I don't really know anything about RFID, but this looks pretty cool. It's a bit more than I want to spend to experiment, but it could be useful for someone out there with more knowledge and skill. My application would...

What Software do you use to control your lighting?

I do have some old X-10 modules, so I may add support for those. If someone in the community wants to help out, that would be fine too. As for SQL, I don't really use it in my setup, but you can use it if needed. The Express editions that I'm refering to are Visual Studio Express and Robotics...

What Software do you use to control your lighting?

My code is posted here: Home Automation With Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio. I'm working on a new version that will work with the "Express" edition of the Microsoft tools. I'm traveling a lot for work, so it's slow going, but I hope to have some new code with new features in the next month...

    Help with Lantroniz UDS-2100

Finally! I got the Virtual COM port working by setting "raw" mode on it. I'm still curious about how to talk TCP/IP directly to the Lantronix device if anyone has information. Thanks, Stacy

    Help with Lantroniz UDS-2100

Still no joy with this. Is there a way to have the mcsSprinkler software (or some other software) talk to the Rain8/Lantronix UDS2100 combination using TCP/IP? Maybe I'm missing some simple diagnostic. Heeellllppp! Thanks! Stacy

    Help with Lantroniz UDS-2100

    1) I'll have to verify this when I get back home. I believe that I installed the DeviceInstaller and the Virtual COM port driver. What is the monitor? 2) I do see the device in Device Manager as COM3 "Lantronix CPR Port" 3) I will make sure the settings are specified in the Lantronix SW...

    Help with Lantroniz UDS-2100

Hello, I know there are some folks on this forum who use Lantronix serial-to-Ethernet devices. I finally decided to hook up a Lantronix UDS-2100 2-port serial-to-Ethernet device server to my Rain8.NET irrigation controller. I think I’m following the instructions correctly, but I am unable to...

    Elk Output control

Two seconds seems to be the secret sauce! So far anyway, I have not had the issue. All outputs seem to turn off as expected. Thanks! Stacy

    Elk Output control

Well, everything is terminated correctly. I'm using the Data Bus Hub, so none of the devices are terminated. The control is terminated at J3 and the RJ45 terminating plug is in the first unused jack on the DBH. Any other thoughts? Stacy
