I am using GE 45600/45601 as secondary controllers, with a PC (Vizia RF + Installer and ControlThink stick, FW v4.52) as the primary.
45600/45601 looked like an attractive proposition because they were so cheap ($13-20) I could put one or two of them in every room.
Issue with GE 45601:

It came with 4.30. I upgraded to 4.52 and it is working now. Thanks for the tip.
The updater app did not give me an option of going to 5.02 or picking my own file. Surprisingly simple program for such a large download.
For future reference here are the files I used...
I bought a Leviton CTZUS-1US USB ThinkStick. When I try to run the Vizia RF + Installer Tool, it says "The selected installer stick is not supported"
I guess I should have bought a VRUSB-1US instead?
Same problem was reported here:

So does 802.11 WEP...
I hope the Z-Wave designers did a better job than the WEP designers.
It is highly unlikely for a random burglar to hack their own way into my house with a 0-day exploit, but if there are holes lurking in the protocol, eventually somebody will write a program that makes...
I should forewarn you that my use case is rather narrow, and I don't think I'd ever want to give hackers a way to unlock my front door and walk right inside (however unlikely the scenario may be).
BTW I see the SS command for beaming, but where the heck is the key management and authentication...
So for people who want to set up Premise VRC0P support, are these statements accurate?
- The wiki at www.cocoontech.com/wiki/Premise has a "z-wave" hyperlink which leads to the W800RF32 (X10 RF) download page. Do not use this link.
- The VRC0P plugin + instructions are in etc6849's forum...
For future reference, many of them are on the Linux MCE wiki:

Basic classes:
Controller 1
Static controller 2
Slave 3
Routing Slave 4
Device types:
CONTROLLER 0x01 (like the ZTH200, Classes: )
SWITCH/APPLIANCE 0x10...
Thanks all for the quick feedback. Replies inline.

Are there other primary controllers on the market that would give me more control over the node numbering?
It would be nice to have instant status reporting, but I need a bunch of these AMs. It was the low cost of the AMs and of...
I just connected a VRC0P to my PC with the intention of using it to programmatically toggle a few HM-AM001 appliance modules scattered throughout the home.
If I know the node number for the AM I want, it is easy enough to turn the module on/off: ">N5ON" ">N5OFF"
But I am having some issues...
