Personally... go with what matches your house better. In the end either works to simply provide that beacon to find your house. My strobe will run a lot longer than the few minutes my exterior siren does.

An empty conduit, HDMI, RG6 and as much cat6 is the best bet. Just about anything can run over cat6 for A/V. We haven't used a cable box in many years and instead use a HDHomeRun to distribute TV. Works great with streaming devices unless your provider encrypts channels in which case you'd need...

While I do use an exterior siren, I like strobes as well as they can be used for a status output too.

For anyone else that comes across this thread... Based off recommendations here, I've used Powersonic batteries for a couple systems as well with no issues.

I'd think you'd be ok. The idea behind the M1DBH is to make terminating and trouble-shooting easy. The plug it comes with that you put in the last port is the terminator so if you don't use that and terminate the last device it should function properly.

I just installed a M1XRF2H for Honeywell, but didn't see any firmware updates on Elk's site?   Is that unit ever updated?

May I just say... use a VPN. You'll have no IP issues as it will always use the internal IP and you will gain more security in the process.
