If you get a thin client with RS232 or USB support you should be able to have touch too, these things all have mouse support.

Thin client maybe, UTMA technology I'm thinking no.

UTMA does support some touchpanels. Some ELO (personally unconfirmed, but reported) and the touchpanel that Touchtronix is using.

I always think of n-computing in terms of Touchtronix screens (which I like but will never be able to afford) but forgot you can get those little boxes for regular monitors. I'll take another look at that.

So I take it that these monitors will never be "touch" screens (i.e. just for monitoring purposes as you stated in your first post)?

That is correct. I have gone in circles over the past year trying to come up with a touch screen strategy and am still not satisfied with any of my options. I have come to realize that for now I will get more value from just employing my spare 15 inch LCD monitors that are currently sitting idle to view the things that are important to me. Most of the time I just need to understand what is going on more than I need to control anything, so 2 or three monitors showing me the cameras, the weather, and the status of HVAC and lights, is really more useful than a touch screen. I can glance at these info monitors without changing my main PC screen but if I need to react to something I can switch the view on my main screen and respond with the keyboard and mouse.

Since every system has a web server, I was going to dedicate a machine to run 3 separate browser sessions and drive three monitors. If none of the ideas in this thread pan out, I will just run cybex longview boxes off the 3 servers in the basement to drive the monitors and redistribute their roles so I can get the views I want on my info displays.

DavidL: I know UTMA supports TouchTronix touchscreens

I was stating that I doubt the small nComputing UTMA boxes with the serial ports supports touch screens and I didn't want someone purchasing those units, then later discovering they were SOL!
