15" ELO Refurbs - Great deal

what are yall doing about the power/config buttons? leaving access? rerouting? or simply making a detachable frame so as to acces the control keys? I think I am going with the latter. Input?

I made a detachable bezel with a picture frame (the wall it "lives" in is covered in family photos). I used velcro to attach.

Any possiblity of still buying these?

I'm not going to relist the ones that didn't sell on Ebay, but if anyone wants to get another or two, you can deal with me directly. I think there are about 12 or so left. My email is [email protected] and my phone is 610-544-3414. You can call me for technical issues too, or post here. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Hi everyone!

Alas, my super cheap batch is all gone. I think all but 12 sold to cocoontech people. Thank you , Sam.

I will sell the same model with a plexiglas bezel and other mounting goodies for $150 starting next week to the cocoontech folks and bezels alone for $25. My day job has distracted me from the bezel project and other commitments related to the the sale of these babies. If I could, I'd devote a few weeks to this project because it's really a lot of fun.

My batch of stands will arrive next week some time and they'll be available for $10. These are super nice stands that have 2 way swivels and height adjustment.

If I ever take some pics of my bezel (Sheesh! What's with this guy anyway! :^) My trusty Photosmart became photostupid a few days ago and my replacement Coolpix has not arrived yet. ) you'll see the way I have handled the control panel is to swing it out and down, so the buttons are accessible through pinholes along the bottom edge of the bezel below the screen. The control panel has about 6" of extra length. If you reroute the cable (which involves removing the LCD) you can get about 10" of free cable.

Funny, since I put it in my wall I have not touched the controls once. Not once.

Some people have asked me what the PC board on the back and the red/black twisted pair are. It's just for an external mono speaker. The PC board combines the stereo speaker output from the internal amp into a mono amplified signal. You can remove the PC board if you want as well as the cable harness.

Has everyone who asked for foam tape received it? Let me know if you didn't. By the way- the stick side of the tape goes against the bezel, not sticky side against the touchpanel.

Cheers!

Michael,

With the stands you have coming, and your bezel, does this create an enclosed assembly? Something you could place on a desk or table and look like a complete package?

Santis, my screens are great. I have one issue though. Can you point to the exact software drivers that need loaded? When I go to windows device manager, I have two "?" under my "other devices". I am sure these are my two new elo touchscreens and the properties show them attached to my matrox quad card. The monitors work fine but I would like to fix the "?"'s in my device manager.

Maybe that software you point to will also fix my touch issues. I just cant seem to get both to work. I know the screens are fine as I can get one or the other to work, but not both. Its giving me "severe" windows issue and reboots my system every time I try to fix the touch issues. Again, nothing wrong with screens from what I can tell, just was hoping you would point to the EXACT software that needs loaded for these screens. I have downloaded several and thats crazy.

Thanks!

edit: I downloaded elo universal 4.6.3.0 touchsystems setup software. should i download something else?

Ok, the replacement touchscreen came in day before yesterday. It is in excellent condition, and nice not to have that bright green pixel staring at me :( Thank you Michael for a fast, replacement!

The touchscreen is working exactly as the last one, so I am thinking it is possibly a driver issue? I downloaded the "Universal drivers for XP" from the link on the eBay page, and installed them. I then aligned the screen, going through the control panel, clicking the ELO icon, and then the align button.

It is very sensitive to the touch of just a finger tip to click anywhere on the screen. Dragging is definitely a different story though. If I press ever so lightly with my finger tip anywhere on the screen, over and over, 100% of the time the mouse snaps to that position. If however I try to use my finger tip to drag something, it will fail 99% of the time. I have to press firmly (very) to drag something.

When I try to drag something, the mouse snaps to where I first touched perfectly, but dragging across the screen the mouse will not move. If I use the pad of my finger, and apply quite a bit of pressure it will work. When I mean quite a bit of pressure, I mean about 2 pounds, with the entire pad of my finger. A finger tip will just not work.

The reason this is important to me, is the interface I have been working on has a lot of sliders. Used for dimming, scrolling, zooming, file lists, song position, volume control ect ect....

This seems to be more software than just hardware. Can someone else tell me if your screens are reacting in this way? A great test is to fire up solitaire and try playing a game, this should show you what I am talking about for sure :)

John, I have had a 1547L installed for 2 years now and it has always worked that way. I don't do much with dragging so it never really bothered me.

A public Thankyou! to Michael who has been great. I appreciate the great deal and your exceptional service. I have one of these hooked up to a used Wyse 9235 thin client which I picked up on e-bay for about $30. The touchscreen works great with this device which runs windows XPe. Its small enough to fit in the wall on the back of the touchscreen easily. Its on my home network and I was able to browse the internet right after I powered it up. Even better I was able to install Powerhome's Remote Control Center (RCC) and Remote Device Status (RDS) clients on the 9235 after some fiddling. So for $130 plus shipping I have a working touchscreen home automation controller...The screen resolution I'm running is 1024x768 with good color rendition. It won't do full motion video effectively but at this price I have no complaints! :(

Those WYSE thin clients look like a great option. How quick are these in responding to touch/input? Are they comparable to a PDA/PPC, or faster? Thanks for the info, keeper!

They are very fast. I can't detect any difference in touch response time comparing the Wyse 9235 and my main computer. Incidentally, I've tried out a Wyse 3235 (they run Window CE anywhere from 2.0 to 5.0 depending on when they were released. The old ones can be updated to 5.0). They'll work with the touchscreens too, but you have to update the Elos drivers from the Wyse website. They work ok as a basic web browser and as an RDP client but your can't run regular windows apps on them.
