5800mini mounting

Would this magnet to transmitter position work or do they truly need to lay flat beside each other? If this wont work I guess I will need to find an even smaller sensor.

It should work like that.  If you want to test it out before you permanently mount the magnet, just tape it in place with some blue painters tape.  If it gives you problems, try placing a 1/4" shim under the sensor to raise it up to the same level as the magnet.

The 5800mini is spec'd for a 1" gap, so I don't think you'll have any trouble.
