AD2PI PI to serial adapter Shield

I am going to install HS2 on a Raspberry PI 2B.  I have read that the AD2USB will work in this configuration.  I found this direct mount shield from the same manufacturer AD2PI.
 
can the AD2PI work on a Raspberry PI 2B that is running HS3?

It seems like a more elegant and reliable solution than a USB cable.
