adding links to Hue?

how many do you need?
Depends on the cocktails and how annoyed I am. I was really off, 25 bulbs on intermatic switches I'd love to rip out and shit on. I'll use the existing vizia rf switches and their bulbs but I'm not liking leviton right now.

Actually I think I'll move the vizia switches to the multi bulb fixtures, if I stay within vizia it works great. That'll cut down the bulb costs.

theres no better time to do electrical and work on your lights than when its dark after an evening of cocktails.

id be sleeping on the street, but it would probably be better because there would be street lights.  :)

Well this quote is pretty damning:

Now the bad. I've owned five of the BR40 (downlight) bulbs. TWO of them have died.

I have expanded a bit since then. I now run a total of 6 downlights, and 3 A19 style. Since the two which died, I've had no issues. So far.

That's the setup that's here: see the CastleHUB in the background of the thumbnail ;)

did you get your Taps connected?

Yep. Not sure what I was doing wrong. Will look into connecting to CQC, was trying to figure out where to put them. I'm going to have to think through having a zWave/Hue hybrid from a user interaction perspective. How do they know when to use the light switch and when not to? Best to have all Vizia or all Hue in a given room, I think. Also, i'm going to have to figure out where to mount the taps, and i'll definitely need several more since i don't want power killed at the light.

Until Hue offers an appliance switch like Wemo does, i'm going to need to keep zWave alive. And since its a mesh, I need to keep several zWave devices alive. Which is fine, as if I stay within the Leviton walled garden all seems to work, its when I try & mix & match that life goes to hell. And so far, thats partially my experience here as well. One Link device is now not working. I'll bet if I stick with all Hue, it'll be fine (just like Vizia).

Actually new idea: The echo will be here in a month. Instead of buying 1 tap for the exit, 1 tap for the living room, the echo might be able to hear me/family in both locations. No need spending $120 on taps when voice will work on the $150 Echo..
