Hi to all,

New to Cocoontech & my first post .
After a lot of research I’ve gone with Elk M1 .Currently In the process of purchasing all the components to suite my needs.
I'm from Australia and came across this touch screen in a PC Mag .I understand it’s a large screen but I feel it’s worth the money
Selling online for $ 613.085 . Maybe position in the Kitchen area .
Opinions?

MSI Global

Thanks

Welcome to CT!

What software are you planning to run? ELK RMS?

Hey Dan ,

Yes ELK RMS was one option along with maybe CQC . I also want to purchase ELKTS071 for the bedroom and as I understand it comes
with RMS pre installed. Don't know much about CQC only it appears to be a software of choice on here. What do you recommend Dan ?
Something that will work well with the Automation from ELK M1 , On-Q/Legrand for Audio and possibly Cbus for lighting .

Thanks Dan

CQC is indeed a popular choice (and is what I run), and should run fine on that unit (I run it on an Atom based touch screen myself). You could probably run the CQC RIVA client on the TS071 if you want to have consistency between all the touch screens. There are some other software solutions out there such as Main Lobby and Homeseer, but not sure if they support the hardware you are looking at.

I will seriously consider your suggestions.
For a novice like myself it’s been very frustrating at times.
That's all changed with the discovery of Cocoontech; it has opened so many doors for
me that ordinarily would be closed.

So can I apologise to all in advance for my silly questions before I start connecting my HA :)

Thanks Dan

Nothing to apologize for, just keep a few things in mind:
  • There are several ways of getting something done, so you will receive different suggestions.
  • Try to understand the limitations of the technology you wish to use in advance. Use search (and the thread linked in my sig) to research topics you are interested in, ask questions if you're in doubt or can't find your answers (no such thing as silly questions).
  • Be ready for a roller coaster ride. You'll have fun, but there will be plenty of frustrating moments.
That's all!

Dan - Yes, we do support the hardware... both the Elk M1 (via UltraM1G plug-in) and also the touchscreens. Note that the Elk TS07/071 units run Windows CE but are not configured for alpha blending... so no transparency with those. That's something we addressed in our own HST-IW07 CE unit.
