Alarm System Monitoring

I am looking for a monitoring company. I emailed NextAlarm over 24 hours with a question and never got a response. They do not have a telephone number and it isn't the type of company or the quality of service I am looking for. I would prefer to be able to talk to someone who is reputable and UL listed. Also I would like someone who doesn't have a commitment for a period of time. If anyone can talk from experience about how they like their monitoring company and if they are reasonable and decent please let me know. I have an Omnipro which seems pretty universal with any modern central station.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Neil,

I have been using NextAlarm for a while now. There response time is good. When they give you your account #, They also give you all of the information you will need including phone numbers. Once you subscribe, You can do everything yourself online, Including placing you system on TEST for testing or working on your system, When done you can look at all of your test results an take your system off TEST. Much faster than phone calls. If you want to call and have them do it, you can do that to. As an X Alarm Dealer, I wish was able to manage my accounts online, But I had call and fax everything in, Online is much faster and you can check yourself for any mistakes.
Bottom line is, I like NextAlarm.

Hope this helps...

Mike

Thanks for the insight. My question was if you add more zones to your system how do you go about doing that?

I also have had nothing but good experiences with NextAlarm. I have use phone support and email support and never had any problems. Since they don't require a commitment, like you want, perhaps you could try them for a month or two and if you don't like them, then you can continue your search. I like NA because I have cellular monitoring, and they automatically email me everything that happens at my house (since I pretty much report everything possible on the Elk).

I had also found that before I was an actual customer the response time was slow. Once I became a customer I never had a problem again. I have used them since last August and so far I am very happy.

FYI my insurance discount is $187 and the annual cost is around $145 for NextAlarm so it helps pay off the equipment in the long run.

Online account management is a real bonus and I will probably never go back to a regular CS again.

I've heard from a few folks who have had difficulty contacting them, but I have to agree with everyone else here. Have had them for a while now and no problems. I honestly have never had to contact them because their online system just makes everything so easy, but the actual central station is very quick and responsive from my experience. You also get a few months free if you prepay a year and you can quit with prorated refund at any time. So far I like them 10,000% better than ADT.

I ended up signing up. Turns out I am not using them but someone else who is contracted in my area? Does that sound normal to anyone here? I supposedly get all the same prices and features so we will have to see.

FYI I still didn't get a response to my question. It just concerns me that they might not be there once I really need them.

Thanks,

Neil

Yes, they sub out the central station in different parts of the country. A common one for them is Amcest. But the website, etc is still NA, its just that Amcest actually monitors, etc. I have found them very responsive.
