Album Art

I second the request.

I hope the Autonomic Controls/Nuvo Music Port 5.7e integration is in the works as well.

BTW, Aaron (or HAI rep of the day), the 'Nuvo Integration' Powerpoint presentation link, from the Support/Downloads Product Integrations page is broken.

How does HAI decide who posts here?

I run a Russound box and any type of integration that would display album art would be the of high interest to me.

I also run this very cool software to play music from my computer:

http://casatunes.com/software/software-v2-5.html

It is installed in my main computer (server) and can be accessed through the Russound keypads, Media Center extenders, web pages and soon through and Ipho/Ipod touch. Not really sure if the 5.7e supports opening web pages or if it would display CasaTunes properly (the interface is pretty graphics intensive).

Neurorad,

It's no one's "job" to post here, there are several of us who just do it to help out, so you'll get a mix of HAI people posting. I passed the bad link onto our webmaster. Thanks.

I think it's safe to say we are working on a solution, I can't say much more now, but in the mean time, you could use Automation Studio to embed a web browser in a page, then point the web browser to a server if you'd like. I've seen a Russound SMS3 done this way and others. Keep in mind that the browser on the 5.7e is more limited than that on a 10P though. If there is something specific you guys want me to test, and I have the hardware here, I'll check it out.

Aaron

Thanks, Aaron.

Do you use HAI at your home, Aaron?

Of course! I have a relatively small system (compared to others), but I have a Pro II. I use Philip Pronto's for for my wireless control and IR stuff. RC2000 for HVAC, and a mix of other stuff... I do a lot of testing of 3rd party products and our beta stuff... tends to make things interesting!

Aaron, you really should get a Nuvo GC or Essentia, with a Music Port.

You'll really enjoy it - and you can work out all the kinks for me, before I try it. :hesaid:

Aaron, it would be great to know: does the browser on the 5.7e support flash?

the autonomic mcs / music port web interface is flash-based. if the 5.7e supports flash (and the speed isn't horrible) then it would be possible to view album art and control via the flash UI.

haha... Well I have all of that sitting in my office now! (Regular Autonomic, not the Music Port version)... I'm always up for playing with the new toys! That's one of the perks of my job, I get to try everything out ;-)

js19707,

The 5.7e is a Windows CE based device, in order to support flash at all, it would need what is called "flash-lite", and even that wouldn't run the Autonomic Plugin without Autonomic making modifications to it. It's a whole-different ball game, but don't despair, like I said before, we are working on some possible solutions.

The 10P on the other hand is Windows XPe, and I've personally used the Autonomic plugin on it, and it works flawlessly....Autonomic hosts the flash object on the server, so all you need to do is add a webbrowser object to a page, and point the URL of the browser at http://theserverip/mirage/ (or something like that), and it will load it. (You'll need Automation Studio to add the custom page)

On a side note, I saw the Russound SMS3's webpage running on a 10P at Worthington's booth @ CEDIA... looked great! Kudos to the Worthington guys for getting that going. They just got their hands on some 5.7e's so I'll keep you guys posted.

I have to say, that people are amazing me with what they are doing with the new touchscreens / Automation Studio...and all the feature requests! lol

Aaron

Seem to me that maybe an in-wall 10 (or 12) incher running XPe would be a great addition to the HAI line. In my opinion, the 5.7 screens are great for secondary locations but it is always nice to have something bigger at the "hub" of the house (maybe the kitchen area) with better internet capabilities.
I realize the 10p is already out there but portables, like the TV remote, can sometimes be hard to find and are in great danger in a household with little ones.
One solution would be for HAI to sell the new OmniTouch software or similar product that could be installed in third party screens.
Or better yet, sell a bigger screen.
Just my opinion.
I am a huge HAI fan and would really like to stick with the brand for my touch screen solutions.

Yeah, with our kitchen remodel in the Spring, a 10i or 10I in-wall touchscreen would be ideal.

I'm surprised the portable was released before the in-wall.

And why can't images be resized in Automation Studio?

Neurorad,

To be frank, we thought about adding some functionality like that, and we decided to draw a "line in the sand", in that Automation Studio doesn't edit images. There are tons of programs out there (including open source and free ones) that do a very good job doing those sort of things. We decided our time was better spend implementing features, rather than reinventing the wheel.

If you guys think it's important, I'll definitely keep it in mind, but I would much rather be adding new stuff *cough* Album Art, etc...

Aaron

Thanks, Aaron. I've been using Photoshop, for work, for about 10 years. Each new version is incredibly cheap, at educational prices, and work pays for it too, so I'm not complaining too much. But right click on an image, and change image size, within AS, would be pretty slick.

I watched the excellent Automation Studio tutorial from Worthington U. - great intro.

I'm curious, though, what CAN be done with the software, if the template isn't used. The instructor insisted that everyone should use the template, and don't even THINK about starting from scratch.

You need to circulate some advanced examples of the possibilities. Everyone admires a good Crestron or CQC GUI, if they're done well. What are the limits to Automation Studio? Many templates should be offered, out of the box - hopefully that's on the 'to do' list. There are many companies out there that do Crestron, AMX, and RTI programming - might want to 'partner' with 1 or 2, now that business for them is slow. Would be easy for them to crank out some new default HAI templates, from their existing designs. The colors and buttons are the hard part.
