ALC Relay question (or Gen 15 I guess)

If it's a dimmer, then holding the switch in the on or off position changes the bulb setting. But for a relay, the press-and-hold functionality doesn't do anything.

I'm planning on using one of my relays to control a dust collector, and I'm coming up with a scheme on how to control it based on open/closed blast gates. The plan I have so far would mean that when the dust collector is "OFF", then the two wires for the aux that represent the off press would be connected.

In other words, when the relay is turned on, its not because of a momentary connection of the 2 aux wires...it's like the aux switch is being replaced with a 2 position switch connected to the aux wires. So ON means the 2 wires are connected and stay connected until OFF happens, at which point the other wire is then connected to the common wire.

I can't imagine how this would harm the relay, and even if it might cause some kind of messaging issue, that wont be a problem as this won't be connected to my ALC network at all.

Tony, you still around?
