Amazon Echo to HA Controllers

I really don't understand this kind of thinking. "I've been using HA for years, I use it this way, so the rest of the market should follow me because I know best." To each his own...

But right now castle is a HUGE step backward and at least 7 years behind CQC.

If Dean only knew how many customers he's lost to us over X10 support... (and likely more still to others like HomeSeer)

Now you're sideswiping another vendor by name? Do you have any class whatsoever?

I was right on my other post, nothing has really changed in 7 years. We used to have Cinemar making outlandish statements and being arrogant, now we have another vendor. And people wonder why this market is moving at a glacial pace, manufacturers are too busy being inappropriate to realize that they're stronger together than apart.

Jkmonroe, you should request this thread get locked. It's gone to total crap, no redeeming value anymore.

You just compared CastleOS to CQC, saying it's seven years behind. I countered by saying in 7 years they haven't gotten X10 support right, and you call it classless sideswiping?

If this thread has gone to total crap, it's because of your efforts to prove what a "true" home automation system is. This thread is supposed to be about voice control.

*sigh*

I guess I will have to make a new thread to talk about Google Brillo and Weave.

The two heavyweights (Apple and Google) are now in the ring, so 2015 should be a really cool year for home automation.

Well this thread is entertaining.

As long as it doesn't get too extreme; it makes for a pleasant afternoon of reading.

It's been a few years now meeting the Cinemar guys.

I do still own their Mainlobby program / Homeseer Plugin from a few years back.

Nice bunch (well I mean that is what I saw) at a little automation party by Cape Kennedy a few years back; they didn't do the limbo or anything like that; well mannered and behaved.

Most online trolls are meek IRL. Now when I went to CES - Vegas and partied with Automated Outlet and the C4 guys, oh my. I spent $600 in the first 30 minutes at the bar, and we were all buying. We were anything but mild mannered and well behaved, but we were definitely well loved by the bartenders and anyone in a 10 foot radius.

Interesting Martin was there too from AO at same said post EHExpo party; he was more rambunctious (thinking that is his nature though)  than the Cinemar guys.

I have to look cuz I took some pictures and most of the time they sat very stoic looking.  Maybe it was the drive from Orlando to the coast which was a bit long?

Well I think there is more Mickey mouse Disneylandia in Orlando than Las Vegas.

So back to the issue at hand.  How many stripes (and color) do you have in that tie you were wearing in the picture that you removed.  The lines are hidden.  Just unfold the tie and you will see them.

Look, if you want more pictures of me for finger material just ask, no need to be coy about it. Or just Google me, thanks to g+ and my college buddies affinity for public posts my presidential aspirations are long gone.

It is not about your picture. It is about the stripes inside of the tie. You cannot see them normally.  I am surprised as the tie line talk has been around for way over 60 years.

Here is a Homeseer group picture circa early 2000's.  Mark started when he was younger for Homeseer.  Thinking there was only the 5 of them back then.

I just stumbled across this thread. Wow, Pete, there's a blast from the past! The guy in the gray shirt (back row of first pic, left side of the other) is a much younger and thinner version of me. It was nice when EHX brought all of the players to Orlando every year. I got to know the HS, AO, C4, and ML guys each as fledgling companies. I almost crossed paths with IVB a few times over the years, but don't make the west coast events very often.

It's funny how cyclical these discussions are. IVB's post just reminded me that I have several Crown PZMs and a gated mixer I need to get rid of too. VR was the first HA wow factor that captured my interest as a 20 something bachelor playing with HAL and HomeSeer 1.0 (the only real options back then), but VR never was reliable. Of course, in the pre-WAF and pre-Siri/Google Voice days the expectations were lower.

I was one of the first round invitations for Echo and have one sitting in my living room/kitchen area, so I'll have to try the Hue emulation hack.

Damn, I've been hanging around here a long time...
