Another Radio Shack Z-Wave sale!

The words "beaming technology" have come up in this thread. It's the first I have heard of it. Can someone tell me what it is?

Thanks

Deane

Z-Wave is a mesh network so it uses devices to spread the signal around your house. Devices with hard-wired power often include this "beaming" functionality. Those running on batteries don't because they'd eat up the batteries way too fast. If you have an area of your house that has poor coverage, you can put in a beaming device closer to the problem device and it should help.

I saw this deal online today. I was floored by the price. It is even lower now that the original post...

Is the auxiliary switch in the 3 way kit compatible with other z-wave dimmers?

I'm using a harmony 890 in my basement theater and I have been planning on getting a z wave switch to just turn on and off the lights without having to get up. The problem is that my fixtures (13) are on one switch, so I'm pushing 1000 watts. The GE models are only rated up to 600, so I was looking at the Leviton 1000 watt dimmer, but I didn't want to spend even more on the Leviton auxiliary switch if I didn't have to. I'm thinking that I could pick one up and use the dimmer as a 2 way setup somewhere else.

Thanks,
flips

Doesn't everyone love the secret terms used by Zensys that all of the controller instructions use but never define? My guess is Zensys needs to be more open and instructions need to be written to explain what the heck is going on. If I was a dealer, there's no way I'd pay $3000 to get the dev kit just to know how the devices work and the full device and command classes. We all have access to cheap zwave RS232 controllers, why can't we know the secret basic, generic and specific command classes for devices we purchase.

I should not have to google something like: "property of Zensys A/S" protocol overview filetype:pdf to find "confidential" documents describing terms that my instruction manual uses so that I can understand my instruction manual! In fact, if you google similar statements, you can learn a whole lot about how zwave works (including a list of command classes).

Note to the above statement: I don't support copyright infringement. I didn't put a link to anything. Up to Dan if he deletes this post or not ;)

What is the catch with these? I just ordered a boat load as they seem to be less than 50% the normal price!

I ordered like 30 of these!

GE 45605 Z-Wave® Duplex Receptacle

They seem to be the best deal out of whats left of the lot...

Not sure about the dimmers. Seem to be mixed reviews on them.

I called closest Radio Shack to me regarding the IP Cams. He said he had them in stock but wouldn't hold them for me.

I purchased the two he had in stock and basically told him that his local peers (other Radio Shacks in the area) are much more in the "want of more business" and in a pleasant manner told him that his attitude wasn't going to attract more customers....and me back to his store.

The link I mentioned has the instructions. It works, I just picked mine up and tried it and it works well. MJPEG support, so should be easy to integrate with other apps such as Vitamin D and HomeSeer. The only issue I have experienced is that the firmware updater utility doesn't work on Windows 7 64-bit (on 32 bit, you need to run it as a XP SP3 exe). I used a Virtual Machine to update the firmware.

Here we go with those deals again! I got a couple of the cameras + with the $10 off coupon made for a real steal.

Found that this command works for Homeseer's Net Cam plugin.

Chewie - I have added one to Zoneminder with the same image setting as I posted for HS. Seems to work OK so far but is low frame rate. Need someone to figure out the mpeg settings.
