Anyone using HAI GE Wireless Receiver (42A00)?

I am puting together a list of what I need to install a complete hai system (II or IIe). I currently have GE wireless sensors throughout the house with my existing NX8 system. Wondering if there are many folks using the ge wireless 42a00 receiver. This is going to be a big purchase and it's not like I can jump in a little at a time and try stuff out. Would like to hear experiences from users of the 42A00 unit, since I dont want to replace my existing sensors. I might consider the Elk M1G also but am not thrilled with the dual firmware issue on these if I use the ge wireless support. I don't want this to be a M1G vs OMNI thread though, really just looking for wireless receiver opinions. Thanks!

I have one hooked to my Omni Pro II. I built a new house and prewired for everything I could think of. After moving in, I discovered some additional stuff I wanted to incorporate. Running additional wire would not work so I added the 42A00. I only have a few sensors hooked up but all have worked with no problem.

Make sure you get 42a00-2 and not 42a00-1. I've used it about 6 months and it works fine with a small exception. I find that if you open then close a zone pretty quickly, say under a few seconds, I find it will sometimes miss the close and report open. Never a problem with motion sensors, and usually not doors or windows, but sometimes with my bed sensors or others that might change on and off quikly. I never had this problem with a Quickbridge with the same sensors.

So, I guess I'm not sure if it is worth spending ~300 on the HAI 42A00 receiver, or just spending ~175 total to add a quickbridge and 10A06 16 zone expander, especially if the quickbridge is less 'quirky'.

You could go either way. If you just have a few wireless zones, a Quickbridge and zone expander is probably best. The negatives are it takes two MORE zones to sense low-battery and supervision failure, and when you get one of these failures, the panel won't know which zone caused it, you have to look at the receiver.

The 42A00 is best if you have more than 8 wireless zones, and the panel WILL know which zone has a low battery or supervision problem, BUT its a bit WEIRD. The panel reports a low battery as TROUBLE. Hopefully future firmware will fix that.

If you have a fair number of zones and a KeyFob, you may want a 42A00 AND a Quickbridge like I'm using. The Quickbridge is fantastic with a Keyfob, and low battery and supervision isn't an issue with these. The Quickbridge allows some keyfob functions you can't do with the 42A00.

So really no right or wrong answer. Depends on what devices and how many really.

Yes, those receivers work fine. Since you already own the GE sensors, it would make sense to re-use them!
