CES 2011 Exclusive Update - Verizon
Verizon will be offering a home automation interface for their customers that will enable ZWave device control and monitoring as well as IP cameras via their LTE Broadband Home Gateway device!
For a monthly fee they will offer their customers access to three 'screens' including a television, PC, and Droid app.
This will offer a breadth of capabilities including custom events that can be setup via their web interface! Verizon is slated to offer this service later this year.Â
The ZWave devices Verizon will interface with include a programmable thermostat, light module, appliance module, and energy monitoring module from vendors such as Schlage, Aeon Labs, and Trane.
When you sign up for this service you can select between two starter kits. One starter kit, will include an IP camera, light switch, and the gateway itself. The other starter kit will include a 110 volt energy appliance module, a thermostat and a personal smart meter, as well at the gateway. There is also an option to include both starter kits with your sign up. All of these kits will have various pricing schemes and optional accessories.
The service itself from Verizon is slated to be under ten dollars a month and will include a PC app that a user can custom scenes and events to trigger and view via a mobile Droid device.
