Audio From Receiver To TV

I have 3 possibly 4 components in the basement that I would like to use in my upstairs family room. I have one HDMI cable running from the basement to a plasma in the family room. I have a HDMI DVR Tuner, DVD component, PVR Archos 700 composite and perhaps PS2 composite. I am thinking about running my components thru a receiver and hopefully the receiver can convert and send all signals over the HDMI or I will have to pull more wire.

What I am wondering is if I run audio/video thru the receiver, can I still listen to audio thru the plasma without audio from receiver? Assuming my only connection to the plasma is from the receiver.

In my case no - i have an onkyo and it intercepts and doesnt' resend the audio to the TV. I dropped two HDMI and component (5 total - including RCA audio) to each tv for flexibility. I wish i had done 2 HDMI, 2 COMPonenet, 2 composite.
