Axis Video server

Hi, I have an Axis 2400 video server. I have had it working fine for a couple of years, now I can not connect to it. I don't think it is the unit, as I have a few of them and tried several. Let me explain what is happening. I can see the device on my network and it is online(I have network magic by Cisco), I can ping it. When I type the address 192.168.1.7 into a pc, I get nothing except for a reroute to google? I have swaped out the device and ran the Axis utility to assign an ip and all goes fine, but I still can not access it. Anybody have any suggestions? I have tried everything :o

Thanks,

Mike

Factory result the device, then connect a PC with the appropriate default IP subnet address to a hub with this device or via a cross connect cable and see if it works.

If not, I would be willing to give it a try if you would like to ship it to me. :o

Thanks,

Like I said, I have tried several units. The same problem with all. I am leaning towards a network issue.

You get redirected to google? Have you tried it from a different computer or browser to eliminate the possibility that it's a computer problem?

Really weird redirect but, I can tell you from experience that you'll want to do all connections and config via IE (yeah, yeah, I know, it sucks)...

Anthony,
Thanks, I am using IE(internet explorer?). I still think I have a network issue.

Thanks again,

Mike

Well that redirect indicates that IE cannot find a web server at the IP address you used. But you said that you can ping that address so the unit is there at that address (well something is there). Are you going through a firewall or any other hardware to connect?

Can you try telnetting to that IP address using port 80 (if it's regular HTTP, 443 if it's HTTPS):
telnet 192.168.1.7 80

Once the connection has been established, try entering GET / HTTP/1.0 followed by pressing the RETURN key a couple of times. You should get some sort of feedback.

What OS is running on the PC? I have trouble hitting my Axis 2400 with PC's running Windows 7. However, I have no problems communicating with my Axis 2400+ from Windows 7.

BSR is right just to see if the unit is working properly. it is the same steps Axis will take with you if you could call them (of course you can't on a 2400). his method takes out the network issue to see if the units are fine. i know it's a PITA but it is the best way to narrow it down quickly.

you could try different computers (or iphone, itouch, etc.) on the same network and different browsers. see if they all get the same thing.

if there is a redirect going on i only see it happening in possibly 3 places
1. the computer you are trying to access the 2400 from. possibly malware or virus or that's just a basic redirect setup when it can't find a page.
2. the router being used. maybe the router has it's own redirect mechanism or forwarding setup.
3. the 2400. somehow the units were compromised and handle the redirect themselves.

using the crossover is the best choice to narrow things down.

most axis has 2 resets. try both methods and then try the axis utility again. also look in dhcp on your router and see if they picked up an address that way. maybe they are different addresses than what you think they are and that is why you are getting redirected since they are not at those ip's anymore.
