bad 2 way voice module?

Today I got into my first bit of programming (yeah!) and found that I've got an awful noice coming from the 2way voice module into my Nuvo system.

My first instinct said ground loop, but i've isolated everything to the same outlet to no avail.

I hooked up a speaker to the voice module and no noise from the speaker
Headphones plugged into the line out also show the noice.

And here is the really odd thing. There was some fuzz on the board, so as i was holding it I blew on it pretty hard. Noise went away, but came back about 30sec later. I can repeat this over and over, but cannot explain it :).

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Chris

I've seen power transistors fail thermally in that manner. They'll work for a minute or two if you cool them, by blowing on them or with freeze spray or some such.

My guess is it's faulty and needs to go back.
