Board Locks Up

I have a board that has been working great for over 8 months now. Today the board stopped responding to http requests. I can ping it, but no http. Any ideas why this happened?

I have a similar problem, I can can see the IP-adress of my WC when I log in to my router (remotly 3G) but there is no
MAC-adress, and I can not access the board !

Is there any solution ? a 3 hrs. drive in artic climate (-25°C and snow) just to check out is not so attempting !

What firmware version do you have?
In the later firmware, we arranged the html file system location. Hope that can avoid the problem.
If you could send the board back, we can check them and fix it for you. Some of the problem is hard to duplicate. If we can get hold of your problem board, we will be able to see the problem, then we can fix them for sure.
 
I am don't know the fw-version, but I got it about 1.5 years ago.
I don't think it's economical to send the board back to US. When I buy something from US I have to pay custom services, shipping, and on top a 25% vat.
Iven if you send a board for free, customs can estimate the value and charge me anyway !

I am going to my house at new year, then maby I can tell if its a hardware or firmware problem. A pitty that I cant turn on the heating in advace, that was one of the
main reasons for the WC-board.
 
What is the process for getting the board back to you? I have two that need fixed. One locks up and the other has an input problem.

Please make sure include your return address and contact information, so that we can send the unit back to you or contact you for additional information.

If you could also send us a curtesy email to [email protected] to alert us such a repair request being sent with tracking possible, we would really appreciate that and looking for it at mailroom.
 
I'll send my board with the input issue as soon as I can. The board that locks up is going to be hard to figure out. It happens randomly and a quick reboot fixes it.

How about us living outside US ?

As I wrote earlier, the cost for me/us, the shipping and custom can be a bigger cost than the board !
I would like that you send me a new board, without any charge. I understand that you maby don't like that, but in long term that will benefit you.

I hope that you in the future will consider a board with firmware update.

As long as we get the bad board back, we can send you the new board without charge. We want to see the problem board, so that we can see if that is a problem already fixed, or a new problem. Firmware update by customer is not possible on this WebControl8, since its space is so limited, adding that self update feature will have to remove half other features. However, the good news is the Webcontrol8 firmware is already very mature at the current state, and there is not much new firmware change in the future.

For oversea customers, we will make sure to be marked as warranty repair, not subject to VAT. We also include a copy of the original received package label, so that your custom service will see that was truly from repair/warranty services.

You mentioned the original purchase was made 1.5 years ago, just want to make sure that is hw rev 2.2.2 board, since we no longer have 2.0.2 board any more.
 
I got a board shipped like that. Got to pay no VAT.
That was to Norway, but hopefully it would be the same to Sweden.
Thinking of it, you should have a way of rebooting the PLC by remote...
 
Maybe this is a solution to remote reboot.
But the price was stiff, can have two WC boards for the price and have one monitoring the other.

That looks like a nice board, do you know a price ?
I allready have a small device with relays that I control with SMS to turn modem, router and WC on/off.
But it don't have any effect to my problem. I will go to my house after cristmas and replace the WC with a spare one
and send the defect one back to CAI.
(the board I use now is not the latest, but it got X10 on it, is that clue)

Strange things happends, this morning I turned the power on to my router/WC and did not got any respons at all, but left it on.
Now 12hrs later I can log in to the board. The only thing that have happend is that outdoor temperature has rised from -20°C yesterday,
and now it is -1.5°C, and indoors (where the bord is) its -7°C !

Is the board tested in cold climate, maby that is the problem ?
