c3 setup help?

I just installed my C3 into my existing HAI OP2 setup and i seem to be having some trouble getting everything to work as expected.

I have inserted the C3 inline into my existing telephone setup, with the C3 now sitting between the voice jack on my cable modem (comcast digital voice) and the input port on the bridged telephone module (w/ built-in rj-31x jack). The HAI plugs into that rj-31x jack.

With the C3 in place, using a known-working SIM, when i pick up the phones inside the house I get the normal dial tone as expected. When I hit * I hear silence. if I hit * again, I hear the GSM dial tone generated by the C3. if I attempt to dial at that point, it either doesn't work (silence) or I get a "your call cannot be completed as dialed" message.

If I disconnect the plug from the PSTN jack (the line leading to the cable modem) and pick up an interior phone, i get the GSM dial tone. when i attempt to dial a number i also get silence.

what am i doing wrong here?

Has no one else had such problems?

Re: coverage, the leds on the front of the unit show 2/3 lit. I may try moving the antenna around a bit this weekend to see if it improves coverage and changes the behavior.

Looks like the HAI C3 is a bit worse at pulling in a signal than my cell phone. It seems like it does better with another carrier's SIM. I'm going to try repositioning the antenna a bit more, and if I can't get that to work, I'll switch providers.

Has anyone tried using the C3 with an antenna booster like the ones from Wilson?
